Compare and contrast carters presentation of lady Atalanta and daisy duck   Essay A close analysis of Carters characters of Lady Atalanta and Delia Delaney in wise children will present several similarities and differences between the two. Both women were wives of Melchior hazard, but they vary greatly in terms of personality.The outcome of their personalities is backed up by carter with an insight into their family backgrounds, financial status, and early lives, presented through the character of Dora Chance in a series of anecdotes.Carter presents Delia Delaney as a somewhat extreme character, in contrast to the character of Lady Atalanta, although the idea that she does have morals is also conveyed throughout the novel at certain points, for example her reluctance to tell Genghis khan that the baby she is carrying is his although it is actually Melchiors. Delia was born in the Bronx, New York on what Dora refers to as the wrong side of the tracks. Unlike Lady Atalanta, Delias career escalated resulting in her becoming wealthy, maintaining this wealth towards th e later stages of her life. Her start in life was vastly different to what the glamorous exterior of the classic thirties blonde might indicate.She came from a family of several brothers and sisters, and her father was a fish peddler who was caught in a cross fire resulting in his death. Her family were poor, as Dora reveals she didnt have a pot to piss in. In the early stages of her life, she became a child star, referred to as little dolly daydream. Carter uses imagery to create a picture of Delia in the readers mind. She gives physical descriptions, commenting on her naturally nasal tone and the fact that she was one inch less than five foot, with a perfectly enormous head. The physical description of her is different to that of Lady Atalanta who is described as the most beautiful woman. Carter conveys Delia as quite a crude character, through her dialogue, and the way that Dora describes her to have danced on tables, and fancied older men. Her dialogue is also crude, as the firs t line of her dialogue in the novel is where does the orgy begin. .She was also willing to sleep with people in order to help her career, as she left lipstick on every pair of underpants further up the hierarchy.The theme of promiscuity is very prominent in the novel, presented through several of the characters including Dora and Nora; this presents the question of whether Delias provocative manner has influenced the twins into having sexual relations with a number of different partners, this idea is reinforced by the fact that her marriage with Melchior is extremely short lived and lasts only a few days before ending in divorce. Delias dialogue throughout the novel reflects the extremity and wildness of her character. She is conveyed as quite juvenile in that she has a lack of class, and self control. When receiving the phone call from Genghis Khans ex wife, she furiously ends the call throwing the phone and shouting DROP DEAD. Dora and Nora seem to approve of her despite her unlad ylike and somewhat irritating characteristics, although perhaps for trivial reasons. Dora liked the fact that Delia would lend her and Nora dresses, and always wanted to party. As well as the negative aspects of her personalities, Carter also conveys the idea that she is an extremely talented individual, showcasing this by the fact that she receives a role in the Hollywood film The dream.Lady Atalanta is a very different character to Delia Delaney. She is conveyed as a very respectable, controlled character. Born into a family of aristocracy, Lady A is a lady in her own right, although she later descends from wealth to poverty. At the beginning of the novel we see that she ends up living in the basement of Dora and Noras house, confined to a wheelchair because of an accident. This presents the question Dora asks herself, did she fall, or was she pushed? indicating that the accident could have been the fault of her daughters, Saskia and Imogen. A very resonant attribute of Lady As pe rsonality is her self control.All the way through the novel she retains the manner of a lady and has a consistently genteel fashion. Her life appears to be quite monotonous due to her condition. It is clear that she is still in love with Melchior after several years, as watching him on television makes her perk right up. She also has a large portrait of him hanging in her Sussex home. She doesnt have a great deal of dialogue throughout the novel, although towards the end she gives a dramatic speech about how Melchior has left her womb empty because his concentration became solely on his career rather than on family life. Dora says she got it all off her chest in one go, however astonishingly, as the outburst she has is rather poignant, she still maintains her calm, ladylike manner. Carter presents a deterioration of her career, as well as in her physical appearance. Not only does she end up in poverty, she also is confined to a wheelchair and growing old has had quite an effect on h er, and taken the life out of her. She was described as the most beautiful woman of her time. in her early life.Carter uses language extremely skilfully to create both characters. She does this through physical appearance, use of dialogue, and opinions of other characters. She creates Lady Atalanta as a cultured, Ladylike, woman of gentility. She elaborates the physical characteristics of Lady A by creating a family background for her. Her well mannered personality reflects her aristocratic family, and her upper class childhood, also resulting in her very significant self control. She also conveys the idea that her childhood has had only good effects on her. Dora says there is not a scrap of harm in her- plus we owe her one from way back indicating that she is a kind woman, who causes no harm to others. She is also voluntarily a mother figure for Dora and Nora, even though they are not at all blood related. Carter creates sympathy for her in a number of different ways.The fact that shes been confined to a wheelchair, the fact that she is so in love with Melchior and can only be close to him by watching him on television, and also the idea that her own children dont respect her, as Saskia and imogen forced her to sign away her residence, leaving her poor in Brixton with Dora and Nora. Her dialogue is also extremely significant in creating her character. The way she speaks in a controlled ladylike manner contributes to her continually emotionless personality. Delia Delaneys character contrasts to that of Lady A, but is still created very skilfully through Carters use of language. Carter creates Delia as a woman of common vulgarity and unladylike characteristics, but also a woman of talent. The description of her physical appearance is extremely important in elaborating her character. Her talent is reflected through this. Dora reminisces on the fact that her face went from one side of the screen to the other indicating her celebrity status, and just how popular s he was at the time of her fame. Her dialogue is also very significant in contributing to her crude persona. She had heart shaped pubic hair. Carter skilfully focuses on very minor details to convey the idea that although she wasnt a very attractive woman, she took pride in her appearance.Both women are similar in terms of career. They were both actresses although Lady A was Shakespearean and Delia was a Hollywood actress. They also both had relationships with Melchior and Peregrine, but both only married Melchior. They are vastly different in terms of early life, they came from contrasting financial situations and families, Lady A went from wealth to poverty, the opposite to Delia, also Lady A gained wealth from talent, as opposed to Delia who gained wealth from Melchior, and sexual relations with those in the fame industry.Carter skilfully creates differences between the two characters through dialogue, and the way Dora describes them. An extremely simplistic and subtle, yet signif icant difference between them is their names. Lady Atalanta reflects someone from an aristocratic background, and the almost fictional name of Daisy duck reflects a Hollywood starlet, although the fact she changes her name to Delia Delaney does convey that she grows slightly more sensible with age. Carter successfully creates a range of similarities and differences between both characters, inventing two opposing characters that become increasingly interesting to the reader through her vivid descriptions and language.

There are some conflictions in the coordination between departments. When Dr Brownlow believed that selecting Brenda Frame and Judith Smythe is a smart move, Richard and Fred were both negative about the course and suggested that no long-lasting benefits would be achieved. Purchasing team and sales and marketing team involved in the working parties of Brenda, but Richard adamantly refused to yield on the matter. This report will find the causes of problems in the company and give practical ideas and resolutions. 2. Richard’s Managerial Roles Henir Fayol defined management as consisting of five main activities, planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling. Planning includes defining goals, establishing strategy, and developing plans to coordinate activities. Organising includes determining what tasks are to be done, who is to do them, how the tasks are to be grouped, who reports to whom, and where decision are to be made. Commanding is telling people what should be done. Coordinating involves determining the timing and sequencing of activities so that they mesh properly, allocating the appropriate proportions of resources, times and priority, and adapting means to ends. Controlling is the process of monitoring performance, comparing it with goals, and correcting and significant deviations. Richard did not act well in organizing. He didn’t allocate the work appropriately because he gave Carole the major portion of workload which Carole could not cope. He did not act well in coordinating. When there drove a wedge between Carole and Joanne, as a director, Richard didn’t come to solve the problem, and he has not keep friendly relationship with other department. He also did not act well in commanding. He didn’t tell clearly to Carole what should to do, which is mislead Carole and makes her become disillusioned and angry with Richard and Joanne. Henry Mintzberg’s research divided ten management roles into three groups which are interpersonal roles, informational roles and decisional roles. Interpersonal roles include figurehead, liaison, leader; informational roles include monitor, disseminator and spokesperson; decisional roles include entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator and negotiator. In the figurehead, Richard didn’t act well in the whole company, the relationship with other department is not friendly, and the internal work allocating is not appropriately. In liaison, he couldn’t interact well with other department. Richard also did not act well in disseminator, he didn’t transmits the information to the subordinates. On several occasions, Carole had made decisions which had to be changed due to lack of information. He also did not well in resource allocator, he didn’t gave the appropriate work to the right people. 3. Problems Resulted from Carole’s Inassertiveness She didn’t understand herself enough so that she did not really want to admit that she was unable to cope with these works. And she had unreal expectation to other people, and genuinely liked to please everyone by doing as much as she could to ensure that no-one could criticise the quality of her input. What’s more, she was lack of effective communication, her decisions which had to be changed due to lack of information and communication from other stakeholders, and she decided to feedback her problem after one month of extra workload. She should study to say no. When Richard allocated work to her, she should tell him her specialized subject and it is useful for leader to allocate works to her. She should to state her basic assertion to stand up for her rights. When she get problems in the work, she should immediately feedback to leader and not continue working without any straightforward statement. She also should study to broke record. She can use this when refusing unreasonable request and not please everyone by doing excessive working. 4. Conflict of Carole and the Resolution Conflict is process which begins when one party perceives that another party has negatively affected, or is about to negatively affect, something the first party cares about. There is a conflict between Carole and Joanne. It belongs to the interpersonal conflict. Carole asked Joanne to take over the network analysis because she thought it is Joanne‘s specialism and is from a moral point of view, but Joanne refused to take on the additional workload because she thought that she is carrying out what Richard asked of her. The sources of conflict in working place include different goals, different time frames, different relationship, unequal power distribution, unclear roles responsibilities and limited resources. The cause for the conflict of Carole is the different goals. The incorrect authority of Richard leads to the vague of working role, and in a great degree leads to the conflict. The consequence is that reducing personal and organizational performance, damaging to physical and emotional well-being, increasing the high stress levels and poor attitudes to work and harming the personal and working relationship between each other. Dealing with conflict can include ignoring the conflict, allowing the conflict continue, reducing or containing the conflict, resolving the conflict and preventing the conflict in the first place. Carole should enforce the communication with Joanne, and they can hold a meeting to resolve the problem. 5. Time Management Techniques to help Carole Time management is about our use of time in relation to what we want to achieve. Typical time stealers are that searching for things or people, longer travel time, correcting mistakes, doing unnecessary activities, interruptions, changing priorities, unable to say â€Å"no†, waiting, clutter, procrastination. Carole had made decisions which had to be changed due to lack of information and communication from other stakeholders. It is time stealers of correcting mistakes. She is doing unnecessary activities because she received too much workload which she was unable to cope. She is unable to say no. And there is a time waster of interruptions for her. The post-it notes kept by staff interrupted her working. She should set priority by urgency and importance and confirm her work. And she should plan and schedule time to avoid interruption and in a great degree to reduce the post- it notes on her desk. She should do necessary work first and other matters can be solved at coffee break. She also should manage stress. Too much stress will reduce the working effectiveness. She can join in some activities to relax herself and it can help her to increase working effectiveness. 6. Stress Management Stress arises when individuals perceive that they cannot cope with the demands being made on them or with threats to their well-being. Behavioural signs of stress include aggression, withdrawal, difficulty in concentrating, moody, nervous shake and restlessness. Physical signs of stress include the elevated heart rate, palpitations, high blood pressure, sweating, skin disorders, stomach and bowel movement problems, plain, sleeplessness, headaches, cold hands and shortness of breath. Emotional signs of stress include weepy, depression, lack of interest, negative self talk, loss of concentration and fuzzy perception. Carole could not work effectively with Joanne and Ian. She was dejected and unconcentrated and also experiencing recurrent headaches. They are the signs of stress. There are a variety of mechanisms that can be used to manage stress. Avoidance of stressors which is to identify what particular stressors we are affected by and seek to remove or avoid them. Adaptive behaviours are techniques such as time management and assertiveness. Adaptive physical response which is to improve the diet, take more exercise and try to relax. Adaptive thinking and emotional response is changing how we view a situation by positive thinking and changing our â€Å"self talk†. Drinking excessive glasses of wine to help to unwind is not the correct approach to deal with stress. Carole should gain her control of time and take effective communication with workmates. After work she should have a good rest and eat for health. And she should find practical ways to relax, such as meeting with friends and cultivating personal interests. When dealing with stress in others, we should recognize signs of stress in others, identifying causes of stress in others and find appropriate ways to deal with the stess. Joanne had been off work and was suffering from a migraine and stomach bug due to the conflict. Carole and Joanne should deal with the conflict with each other. Calore didn’t have the authority to take over the network analysis to Joanne. She should negotiate with Richard and ask Richard to allocate to Joanne, because Richard is the leader and has the power to allocate work to subordinates. . Conclusion The core problem is lack of effective communication. Richard acted as the director of the company did not act well in the management activities of organizing, coordinating and commanding. And he also did not act well in the manager roles of figurehead, liaison and resource allocator. And he also has problem in giving authority to subordinates. The key factor leaded to his problem is that he didn’t have sufficient and effective communication with his staff and workmates. Based on increasing communication with other staff, Richard should allocate work according to different staff’s specialism and not give all the work to one subordinate. He should solve the conflict between staff immediately and he also should take care of keeping good relationship with other department. And when commanding works, he should express clearly what should be done. And he also should transmit information into the organisation in time. Carole had a pool time management. It in a great degree affected her work effectiveness. There was a high stress on her due to the conflict between her and Joanne. These problems were also caused by the poor communication. When Richard allocated work to her, she should tell him her specialized subject. When she got problems in work, she should immediately feedback to leader and not continues working without any straightforward statement. She also should refuse unreasonable request and not please everyone by doing excessive working. She should enforce the communication with Joanne, and they can hold a meeting to resolve their conflict. And she also should enforce her time management and find correct way to deal with stress.

Student Monitoring System Development Project Definition Document A web-based student monitoring system 1. Introduction Educational software has been evolving in the last couple of years, catching up with the advances of software in the rest of the IT world. Mainly due to the advantages of e-learning more and more institutions are inventing to new technologies to accommodate their learners. This moved educational software from the traditional small client application connecting to central databases, to lighter web applications accessible from multiple clients via the internet. The next step that web based educational applications are taking nowadays is a Service Oriented Approach (SOA). This came after the introduction of the web services technology, AJAX and of course the frameworks that support the Model View Controller approach in developing applications. What is meant from the above, is that web based applications need to be able to collaborate with other systems since not all different components of the IT infrastructure of a university is developed by one company. Also open standards enforce more commercial and open source software developers to use approaches that their applications can be easily integrated and expanded. In our case we need to develop a web based student monitoring system, where personal tutors can monitor the attendance of their first year students. Our system would be developed so it would make it possible to be plugged into the existing systems of the University and if possible use data of them system to add more functionality and ease the administrative tasks staff members have to do. At the beginning of each year, the director of first year students s allocating personal tutors to students and also adds the students to a particular lab group. Then attendance sheets should be produced as outputs of our system to lab assistants and personal tutors. The problem with the existing system is that the interface of adding and modifying information is not very flexible. Our system should overcome this problem and make it easier for staff to keep attendance records of the students. Also in order for our system to be able to fit with the existing solutions, a service oriented approach would be used. Interfaces to import structured external data are one of the main areas that we will concentrate and also adding the flexibility of getting data out of the system. The links of our system to other systems would be implemented using a service oriented approach and web 2.0 techniques. 2. Aims and Objectives Aim Develop an attendance monitoring system to be embedded within the existing systems of the University using a service oriented approach and web 2.0 technologies to display and enter information to the system Objectives and Testing methods: Research and analyse service oriented approach and MVC frameworks in system development. A review of the different approaches will evaluate why we used a specific framework and methodology to develop our solution. Design, implement and test a complete implementation of the student monitoring system. Test all classes using Unit testing and also produce test plans for different functions of the tool as a blackbox / whitebox testing where appropriate. Produce a set of public APIs that can be used from our system to enable integration with existing systems. Testing of this objective would be by extracting data from the university systems and importing in it to our system easily. Also provide a set or web service or RSS feeds to import data to other systems Methodology Literature review on Service oriented approach in software engineering, J2EE MVC frameworks, RSS and web services. This stage will help us meet the first objective Requirements gathering with rapid prototype development. We will use the WebML approach for web application development which is an iterative simplified waterfall model approach. The outcomes of this stage would be a database schema supported by the entity diagram of the application and also any other diagrams required from the WebML approach. Objective 2 will be met at the end of this phase. Test and document all available APIs. The Arab-Israeli Conflict The Arab Israeli conflict has gone on for many years. There have been many wars, terrorist attacks and peace treaties between Israel and the Arab countries. Through war and Treaties Israel has gained and lost alot of land. There have been 4 major wars between Israel and The Arab countries, as well as terrorist attacks. The reason for many of these attacks include land, claim of the country and anti-semitisem. Israel which is only 8,000 square miles is on the Mediterranean sea which is very good for its ports which are good for shipping and trade. The first of the wars involving the Arabs and the Israelis was the First Palestinian War which took place between 1947 and 1949. It was a civil war between the Palestinian Jews and the Arabs.The Jewish military group, Haganah dominated in the war and came out victorious. In 1948 The United Nations declared Israel a free state. The next of the wars was the Suez Sinai War. This war began October 29, 1956 after Syria, Egypt and Jordan announced that the would join forces under Egypts commander in chief. Israel came out victorious in that war as well and captured The Sinai Peninsula which belonged to Egypt and The Gaza Strip which belonged to Jordan. Israel wasn't aloud to use the Suez Canal which belonged to Egypt. The next war was the Six Day War which ended the ten years of peace between the countries. The Six Day War started June 5th 1967,when Israel bombed Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian and Iraqi airfields destroying more than four hundred airplanes. By June 8th Israel had stoped fighting with Egypt, Jordan and Iraq and started Fighting with the Syrians. Syria had shelled northern Israel, but Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank From Jordan. The war was over June 10th when the United Nations negotiated a cease-fire between the countries. The Yom Kippur War started October 6th 1973. It is Called the Yom Kippur War because It started on Yom Kippur the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. It was led by Egypt and Syria attacking Israeli solders. The next of the wars was the Suez Sinai War. This war began October 29, 1956 after Syria, Egypt and Jordan announced that the would join forces under Egypts commander in chief. Israel came out victorious in that war as well and captured The Sinai Peninsula which belonged to Egypt and The Gaza Strip which belonged to Jordan. Israel wasn't aloud to use the Suez Canal which belonged to Egypt. The next war was the Six Day War which ended the ten years of peace between the countries. The Six Day War started June 5th 1967,when Israel bombed Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian and Iraqi airfields destroying more than four hundred airplanes. By June 8th Israel had stoped fighting with Egypt, Jordan and Iraq and started Fighting with the Syrians. Syria had shelled northern Israel, but Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank From Jordan. The war was over June 10th when the United Nations negotiated a cease-fire between the countries. The Yom Kippur War started October 6th 1973. Management and Employment Relations

The history of management is being traced with difficulties and it is only seen as a modern conceptualization. This difficulty contributes to its ideally possiveness nature. In premodern past context it is traceable back to Sumerian traders and builders of the pyramids of ancient Egypt. Full exploitation and motivation of slaves faced problems. Many pre-industrial enterprises in their small-scale nature were never compelled to face issues of management. With increased scale of commercial operations devoid of mechanized record keeping and recording, management functions were unavailable. Management as an act involves the process of directing and controlling a group of people for purposes of achieving coordination and harmony of the group towards attaining a goal, which is far beyond the scope of individual efforts. Potential human resources, financial resources, technological resources and natural resources are deployed and manipulated through management[1]. The possibility of personifying the act of management also exists whereby the person or a team of persons performing this act is or are referred to as management and has to do with power by its nature and position. Functionally, management entails the art of getting things done through people: action of weighing a quantity on regular basis and adjusting the initial plan and the action taken to reach the overall intended goal. The functions and roles of management therefore entail planning, organizing, leading or motivating and controlling or coordinating all resources in the working place[2]. Management falls under the following categories: human resource management, operations or production management, strategic management, financial management and information technology management.   Human resource management carries the grater weight in employment relations. Its importance is seen in understanding and developing its context concept, to assess and explain its impact on organizational performance and employment well being and to contribute to the dissemination of good practice. The role of management in employment relations can be explained by the context of communication in the work place. Employees must be treated with applicable laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which it operates. Communications between management and employees is essential in conveying management policies to employees and encouraging employees to voice their options[3]. This impacts the active rather than passive agency role of the management being the representative of the employer. These concepts are of vital importance in employment cycle. Employment in this context refers to the contract between two parties one being the employer and the other one the employee. The employee refers to a person in the service of another. Under any contract of hirer express or applied, oral or written where the employer has the power or right to control and direct the employee in the material details of how the work is to be performed[4]. In a profit oriented setting the aim of the employer is creation of valued produces at reasonable cost, and providing rewarding employment opportunities for employees. In unprofit setting the ultimate goal is to keep faith of the donors. Other areas of employment include the public and household sectors. It is in view of this harmony that the active role of the management should be felt in any working environment. Communication between management as the employers’ representative and employees should show shared responsibilities called co-determinations. There are specific areas of concern and address during the discussion between the two parties they include; pay of wages, bonuses, the work environment, disputes, work schedules, grievances, health and safety, working hours and production targets. The aim of these discussions is an achievement of a more harmonious working relationship sometimes-major employment relations dispute may arise. Whenever problems start to arise in a company a successful management-employment relations involve striking a balance in nearly all situations. The employer has the right to manage that is the ability to plan for the future so that the company can continue moving to make profits and to keep employees motivated. Form the employees’ viewpoint best possible conditions must be secured and good living standards made not a dream. High labour turnover, bad time keeping, high levels of absenteeism, slackness of individuals, poor working, deliberate time working in similar practices are evident in situations where employees are unhappy with the working conditions[5]. Other evidences of discontent will be revealed in complain, friction, ignoring rules and apathy for unappropriate management system to gain the intended meaning must strive to attain the following qualifications: attraction of the most qualified employees and matching them to the jobs for which there are best suited since this is significant for the success of any organization[6]. However, there arises some technical problems in many large enterprises due to their size this aspect of too large size of an enterprise deter possible close contact between top management and employees this connection is otherwise provided for by human resource managers training managers and labour relations managers. In an effort to enhance immorality and productivity while limiting job turnover, helping organization increase performance and improve business results they are of vital help to the organization they also help the firms effectively in using employees skills, provide training and development opportunities, improve those skills and improve employees satisfaction with their jobs and working conditions. Dealing with people through physical interaction is an important part of the job although some jobs in the human resources field require only limited contact between the people outside the office. The importance of management in employment relations on an active capacity is further highlighted through creation of labour unions and its incorporation in the constitution in the name of labour laws. This has been evident in all regions countries and states all over the world for the purpose of improving the quality of working life for individuals and creates condition for business success. Employers, employees and unions must deal with one another in an honest and open atmosphere. This in essence bears results such as follows: promotion of good employment relation and cultivations of mutual respect and confidence between employers, employees and unions. It also sets the environment for individual and collective employment relationships. It also sets out requirements for the negotiation and content of collective and individual employment agreements. It also provides prompt and flexible options for resolving problems in employment relations. There are a number of undiresable trade union action such as withdrawal of good will, go slow, working strictly to the rules set out in work rule books and sticking rigidly to only doing tasks set out clearly in a job description, refusing to work overtime, going on a strike and many others[7]. All this actions reduce companies’ profitability and its ability and fulfill orders, they harm employment prospects, reduce wages of employees they lead to festering discontent and cause problems for customers and economy as a whole. This is a practical scenario in the current working places and it reflects negative picture of interaction in the working places. It is therefore, very important to create a harmonious working environment for the benefit all the concerned. Good practices and models of a harmonious working practice should be exhibited in a true structure of employment relation. In an effort in building trust as a manager it is paramount to display the following characteristics: keeping promises, have ethics, telling people the truth, being fair and honest, treating employees as adults while showing appreciation for their ideas and for the work they do, involve employees in planning and problems solving, give employees important work and support them to implement. In an effort to achieve a successful structure of management – employment relations’ labour or employment laws have been enacted. Labour laws Labors laws also known as employment laws refers elaborately to a body of administrative ruling and prescient which focuses to address the legal rights and restriction on the working people and their organizations and as such it mediates may aspects of the relationships between trade unions, employers and employees. They are in some countries restricted to ununionized work places, as is the case in Canada. But in most other countries no such restrictions is made. Two broad categories of labour laws exist; collective labour law which relates to tripartite relationship between employee employer and union. Individual labour law concerns employees’ rights at work and through the contract for work[8]. Employment laws include all areas of the employer employee relationship except the negotiation process covered by labour law and collective bargaining. It consists thousands of federal and state statues, administration regulation and judicial decision.   Most of these laws such as minimum wage regulation were enacted as protective labour legislation. The functioning and origins of labour laws is oriented towards strikes, pickets, boycotts, unofficial industrial action Labour laws in Australia The federal parliament in Australia is empowered by the constitution to make laws concerning conciliation and arbitration for the settlement and prevention of industrial disputes extending beyond the limit of any one state. The laws made with respect to trading and financial corporations fall within the limits of the commonwealth and foreign corporations. Industrial relations systems and wages setting have been enhanced by this system also known as work choice, which came into operation in 2006[9]. Work choices legislation act in Australia The most comprehensive shakeups of industrial relations since federation were the results of the successful introduction and passing of work choices legislation in Australia in December 2005[10]. The industrial and employment circulars underwent permanent and long-term changes. These changes are explained in the following dimension: federal systems of industrial relations were successful and completely replaced with the unitary system of industrial relations: an emphasis on Australian economy away from the wages and conditions; transitional arrangement and changes to Awards and Agreements; awards were reduced drastically, Australia Fair Pay Commission was set up with the main aim of determination of minimum wages and conditions of employees, the powers of Australian Industrial Relation Commission were greatly reduced to an extent of being rendered redundant, flexible work practices were introduced and the ability to cash out some benefits such as annual leave[11]. The consequences were some problems with work place health and safety application; new dismissal provision which were less straightforward as they may have been trumpeted. New transmission of business rules that is buying and selling business plus all the people incorporated in the business. Union restriction and the scrapping the no disadvantage test. All these changes brought about complexity and consequently bearing some effects on businesses along the following orientations. Small business holders were subjected to the understanding of the broader concepts of employer obligations to the employees applicable to their unique business situation.   The employers take great care before taking a step towards termination of an employee’s service. Great care, advice and consultation became a prerequisite since the work place legislations empowered the employees to claim compensation against unlawful dismissal and discrimination. These laws applied to the especially small business with as less as a hundred employees and therefore constitute the retail in Australia. The workforce legislation in Australia further favoured these minority employees in the retail industry in a sense that the cost of defending discrimination and dismissal claim by the employer is dramatically higher than the unfair dismissal itself. In conclusion; the changing of the awards and agreements provided for by the work choice legislation added a layer of complexity to the businesses which extended upto the end of the transitional face which extended up to five years. An investor intending to buy a business was supposed to be ready for the transmission of business changes and the business owner had to grapple to the new layer of complexity. The Bird essays

The Bird essays At 1952, Dame Daphne du Maurier wrote a short story named The Birds. Maurier was born on 1907 at London, England. The idea for this famous story came to her one day when she was walking across to Menabilly Barton farm from her house. She saw a farmer busily plowing a field whilst above him the seagulls were diving and wheeling. She developed the idea about the birds becoming hostile and attacking him. Then at 1963 Alfred Hitchcock directed a movie The Birds which was based on Mauriers story, and an attack of birds on 1961 at Santa Cruz, California. Alfred Hitchcock, known as The Master of Suspense was born at 1899 in Leytonstone, England. Mauriers REBECCA (1938), was also filmed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940. Although I couldnt find any thoughts of Maurier about the movie REBECCA, I found that she disliked the movie The Birds because In her story, the birds become hostile after a harsh winter with little food, first the seagulls, then birds of prey and finally even small birds, all tu rn against mankind. The nightmarish idea appealed to Hitchcock who turned it into the celebrated film. Daphne also particularly disliked the translation of the setting from Cornwall, with its small fields and stone hedges, to small-town America. As one above, there are many differences and similarities in this story and movie. In this essay, I will be comparising and contrasting between the story and the movie. There are many points of contrast between the story and the movie. First of all, setting of place is very different, which made Maurier to dislike the movie. In the story setting is in Cornwall, England, but in the movie, setting has been changed to small town just by San Francisco, USA. Then, character is very different too. This should take a little bit of time to complete. You want the document you deliver to be detailed, polished, and well-planned. Start By Establishing Goals, Metrics, And Objectives Your prospective client wants to know how your work will benefit their business. Logically, it makes sense to start with goals. These will be the endpoints you work toward. Use the SMART Methodology You may have heard us mention SMART goals  on the blog (or elsewhere). If you’re unfamiliar, that’s okay. The SMART methodology provides a simple framework for effective goal setting. Set Business Goals For Your Client Next, outline tangible business goals. This could include: Generating leads Raising brand awareness and cultivate brand loyalty Increasing sales and revenue These specific goals will depend on your prospect’s business needs. You should have some idea what these are after your initial discussions with them. Determine Metrics You’ll Monitor In order to reach your goals, you’ll need to determine which metrics matter. Applying the right data will help you know if you’re succeeding, and prove it to your client. Traffic: How much traffic are you sending to your website? This is often key for driving leads. Follower Growth: The more followers, the better. However, it’s important to make sure you’re attracting the right followers (meaning, followers who fit the client’s desired, target audience). Be sure you know what your client’s objectives are. Some possible objectives could include: Increasing brand awareness Community building and engagement Driving leads TIP: Tie specific objectives back into your client's overall business goals. Set Clear Schedules And Timelines You don’t want to leave your client wondering what you’re doing while burning their budget. Let them know when things will be done up front. This includes: Deadlines for projects. Timelines for meetings and check-ins. Time frames to reach performance goals. This ensures a client can’t try to force your hand to deliver faster than promised. Be firm on your timelines and work hard to meet them. Under-promise and over-deliver. When it comes to deadlines, under-promise and over-deliver.Be Clear About Budgets Going over-budget is stressful for agencies and consultants. It leads to costly write-offs or over-billing your client  (and you should never over-bill anyone, for anything, ever). Neither is good for either side. The best way to avoid problems here is to establish realistic budgets. Tips For Setting Budgets Every team member you add to a project raises the cost. Include only those who are essential. Be smart when planning meetings. They can be a drain on both time and budget if you’re billing for hours spent in meetings, in addition to time spent doing the work. If you’ve selected the right people, to perform the right work, on the right timeline, then budgets should (hopefully) fall in line too. If your client disagrees, then negotiate, or even walk away. You need to arrive at terms that are satisfactory to both sides. Determine Reporting Periods And Deliverables As you work with your client, they’ll expect to see some kind of reporting. This could mean a formal weekly or monthly reporting document showing how your work is performing. Your proposal should note: When to expect reports. Therefore, swearing clearly belongs to a group of cultural habits of a given s ociety, and different societies allow for a varying degree of freedom of expression of its members. However, it is here that the real difficulty may arise because in the modern globalized world, where we often communicate with representatives of other cultural traditions, cultural diversity creates potential for confusion due to the differences in attitudes to swearing and to the existence of different forms of swearing.
